REVIEW: Bobbi Brown - Creamy Matte Lip Color/Lipsticks

Hi dolls! Here’s another post on my most loved product... LIPSTICKS! This time it will be a review on the Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipsticks, or otherwise known as creamy matte 'lip colors' on the official Bobbi Brown website.

So about a month an half ago all the large department stores such as House of Fraser, Debenhams and John Lewis were doing a 20/30% off beauty products deal, so it was only normal to order a few things before everything went out of stock right?

Before this I’d never before tried out any Bobbi Brown lipsticks, and knowing that I’m a matte girl when it comes to lips, the sound of these really appealed to me! Most matte lipsticks tend to be very drying and difficult to apply to the lips, so the fact that it claimed to be a ‘creamy matte’ intrigued me.

So anyway, I was on the hunt for a true pink and ‘Taupe’ by Mac, however this was out of stock. So I went ahead, did some research on swatches and colours and decided to order three different shades. I settled on '04 -True Pink' - obviously as this seemed to be the ideal name/shade I was on the hunt for! '05Warm Beige' - this looked like a brown shade I’d enjoy throughout the chillier months, and finally '10 - Tawny Pink', a shade of lipstick I’m always drawn to no matter how many similar alternatives I already have at home.

Each of these lipsticks retail for £19.50, which I guess is pretty decent considering the brand, also in my opinion you do get a fair amount of product, as well as a very pretty, sleek tube of lippy to display as part of your collection. They also have the standard vanilla smell to them, which is always a plus as they smell delicious!

10/10 for packaging!

True Pink is described as a 'medium neutral pink', which I agree on, it is. I love this colour as it is was exactly what I was looking for as I like to pair darker eyeshadow looks with nudes and pinks - and this is a ideal!

The only cons so to speak, is that when you apply this directly on to the lips, it does seem a bit milky, which makes it look a bit odd on my lips. Now I don't know if this will be the same for all lip types and colours, but I would definitely recommend lining your lips with a similar neutral pink lip liner.

Compared to the other two shades, I would say this is the more 'matte' shade and the most drying on the lips. The application is not as creamy or moisturising and after a few hours the streaks on the lips become visible, not making it attractive so ideally, reapplication will be necessary.

Tawny Pink is described as a 'pink mauve', in my opinion it depends on your skin tone. The lighter you are, this will show up more pink, whereas the deeper your skin tone gets it will show up more plumy and/or brown.

This is by far one of the most beautiful shades I own. Even though I have not owned it as long as some others, it has definitely become a holy grail product for me. I have nothing but good things to say about this lipstick shade and its application. It's super creamy as well as remaining matte. It glides onto the lips so easily and doesn’t necessarily  need a lip liner - I always use this on the go and when I'm in a rush without lining my lips and it works wonders!

This shade in my opinion, is definitely up there on the list of of the many lip products beauty gurus and bloggers have discovered and used to recreate and achieve the legendary Kylie Jenner lips. - Use this on its own and you'll have Jenner lips in no time!

Warm Beige is described as a 'pink brown', now I don't know if its just on my lips, but this seems to have a slight brick red undertone to it, which I honestly don't have a problem with.

This shade makes me look very pale, so ideally I would wear this more in the autumn and winter months, when looking a little paler isn't an issue for me.

Like Tawny Pink, this also glides onto the lips and is easy to work with, it is also extremely moisturising. It does not need a liner, however using one will just make your lips pop a little more as it is a darker shade then the other two.
I also like to mix this shade with darker reds and pinks to achieve a nude which doesn't wash me out.

Names & numbers of lipsticks
  • Overall, these are by far one of the most amazing lipsticks I've tried.
  • The formula is amazing on the lips and helps keep them moisturised, so you can use them throughout the year no matter what the weather (you won't have to worry about dry lips in winter ladies!)
  • The packaging is sturdy, sleek, elegant and very beautiful - the lid is very secure so will not easily come off in your bag or purse.
  • There is a wide colour variety - from deep, bold shades, to cool, neutral everyday nudes.
  • The staying power is long lasting, Bobbi Browns claims it has a staying power of 8 hours, but I think it is a little less, only a little bit though - however, I've eaten with these lipsticks on, and the lip colour has stayed in tacked.
  • All of the shades I have spoken about have become my everyday essentials, and I will definitely be repurchasing!
  • Highly recommend this brand, and especially these creamy matte lipsticks to all you ladies, nothing like anything I've tried before..
  • If you love mattes but still want the moisture and easily application, then you'll LOVE these!
Thanks for reading dolls, hope this helped if your considering trying out a new brand, or just on the hunt for some different shades of lipsticks!
