What Works Best?

Hi my loves! Back with another post, and this time on the beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I've been using this foundation I think for about 5/6 months now; and I can hands up, say it is one of THE BEST foundations I have ever tried, if not the best! It is full coverage and literally covers up all the redness and any blemishes you have. I don't even have to use a concealer if I use this foundation. The consistency is runny when you first pour some out, however you need to work quick once applied to the face as it tends to set quiet quick. It has a matte finish as well, which I love!

Now, I've tried a few techniques and methods of applying this foundation, using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush and the Beautyblender.

Both the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush work in similar ways. Generally, they work well with the foundation, however can take a long time to blend out all the product well into the skin. The surface on the Real Techniques buffing brush is not fully flat like the Sigma F80, the slight roundness of the top of the brush makes it easier to work with. It is easier to get into those difficult areas such as around the nose and under the eyes. Whereas the flatness of the F80 makes it a little harder to do this. Also, this means that you have to hold the brush in a specific way, to enable the product to transfer on to the face as it is completely flat.

Overall the density of the bristles on both of the brushes is a bonus as it makes the application of the foundation work better. They don't leave any streaks. However because of the texture of the foundation itself, once you begin to work it into the skin, it can become quiet drying. In my opinion, you definitely need to moisture well before using this foundation - as it does seem to leave me a bit dry after I'm done with my full face.

Next is the BeautyBlender - which has very quickly become my holy grail foundation tool! I've been using it for a while now, and never understood the hype around this product before, but I can honestly say IT IS SO GOOD! I use it a majority of the time, on a daily basis.

Now, the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and BeautyBlender are the best combo ever. The damp sponge works really well with the thickness of the foundation. It is super quick to work with. Unlike the brushes, you don't have to spend ages blending it into the skin. I am quiet dry around my nose and sometimes go through phases where I have bad dry patches around my face, but using the beauty blender makes it ok, because it doesn't attract attention to these areas as I've got plenty of moisture!

TIP: Use patting motions to work the product into the skin rather then sweeping it across the face as this will leave streaks, and not work the foundation into the skin well.
TIP: I love to use Mac Fix+ after a apply my primer. This refreshes my face and adds a little more moisture and 'wetness' to my face before I apply the foundation.

Overall, out of the three I prefer to use the BeautyBlender, if you already haven't been able to tell. It works the best with this particular foundation and really does leave a flawless finish! I would definitely recommend investing in one. It is a bit pricey for what may seem like a piece of sponge, but it works wonders! Maybe try the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge as a cheaper alternative to figure out whether it may be for you or not.

That's all my loves!
